Adelaide arrived at the Werribee International Equine Centre on Saturday and according to Coolmore Australia Racing Manager James Bester the four-year-old had come through the lengthy trip from Ireland to Australia in excellent condition.

Bester told News Limited that he is thrilled with the condition of Adelaide and believes that he has the talent to win at the highest level of racing in Australia, but he admits that the Galileo entire faces a difficult challenge in the Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) next Saturday.

Adelaide is one of the main fancies in Cox Plate betting and you can find the best odds on offer for the talented galloper with Ladbrokes.com.au.

“It’s a big challenge training a horse from quarantine to step out on the day of the race, so one has to be realistic about his chances and really, we have to leave it to the horse to speak for himself on the day, but we have no doubts he’s a high class horse and should prove himself in Australia ultimately,” Bester said.

“He looked marvelous; he oozes quality and steps around with great presence.

“He’s a Group 1 winner in America over 2000m on a tight left handed turf track at Belmont.

“The horse has done nothing but improve since then.

He ran a cracking race in the Arc trial; he got held up on the fence and should have won.

He’s a horse on the up.

“He’s very highly regarded and whilst it’s clearly a big ask to step off a plane and win a Cox Plate, he’s a horse with the intrinsic ability to do so.”

Coolmore remain the majority owners of Adelaide, but a share in the talented entire has been sold to Australian connections and he will join the stable of leading Sydney trainer Chris Waller after running in the Cox Plate; with the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) set to be the major 2015 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival goal for the European galloper.

Adelaide will be having his third start at Group level in the Cox Plate after he finished a close third in the Grade 1 Belmont Derby Invitational Stakes (2011m) at Belmont Park on July 5 and took out the Grade 1 Secretariat Stakes (2011m) at Arlington on August 16.
